Study on Friction Initiation Characteristics of Inertial Initiation Projectiles
Main Article Content
Abstract
To quantitatively analyze the initiation characteristics of inertial initiation projectile, experimental study on the impact initiation process of projectile was carried out. According to the thermal explosion theory of explosive, the frictional initiation model of charge was established. The inertial impact characteristic of the charge was analyzed by combining with LS-DYNA software. The frictional temperature-rise curves of the charge under different operating conditions were obtained. Under the condition of projectile effectively penetrating the target, the slower the projectile impacts the target, the larger the inertial impulse on the charge, and the easier the charge is to be detonated. The sliding friction coefficient between the passivated RDX and the steel inertia body is 0.04. The numerical results were compared with the experimental results, which verified the correctness of friction initiation model.
