Comparative Study on EFP and JPC Penetrators Formed by Copper and Molybdenum
Main Article Content
Abstract
In order to study the effects of pure molybdenum on the formation of explosively formed projectile(EFP)and jetting projectile charge(JPC), three research shaped charges, such as copper liner, equal volume molybdenum liner and equal mass molybdenum liner, were designed based on the dual-model warhead structure of EFP and JPC. LS-DYNA software and X-ray test were applied to the comparative study of molybdenum penetrator and copper penetrator. The results show that molybdenum has fine plastic properties in the forming of JPC. Compared with the copper liner, the velocity of equal mass molybdenum JPC increases by 10.5%; the aperture of penetration increases by 1 time; the compactness of molybdenum EFP is smaller; the kinetic energy increases by 2.7%~5.9%; the penetration aperture increases by 9.2%; the penetration depth reduces by 20%.
