Abstract

In order to theoretically search for the predicting method of critical erosion parameters of solid rocket motors(SRM),an approach predicting critical erosion parameters(including critical flow velocity,and critical combustion-area-to-port-area ratio)of solid composite propellant rocket motors were developed on the basis of the modified Lenoir-Robillard erosion equation(L-R equation). Through the examples of one-dimensional internal ballistics and zero-dimensional internal ballistics,the critical flow velocity and critical combustion-area-to-port-area ratio predicted by the approach have very high prediction precision and meet the requirements of engineering calculation. The approach has an important practical application significance in erosion combustion theory research,experimental research for solid rocket propellant,and improving prediction accuracy of internal ballistics of solid rocket motor. This method is only suitable for AP composite propellants,and further research is needed for other propellants.
